- Stress is your body's reaction to any kind of demand or
threat. Your nervous system releases adrenaline and cortisol (stress
hormones) that prepare the body for emergency action when threatened.
Stress is unhealthy because it breaks down your body's ability to
function properly. One might not even be aware that they are stressed.
If you are restless at night, irritable, have constant headaches or you
are unable to think coherently, chances are your body is experiencing
stress.
Here are a few ways to overcome those exasperating moments:
1. Pray about it
This might sound cliché, but it holds true. Praying for help is the number one act that will give you results. Your faith can bring a positive outlook and good results into your life.2. Talk to a trustworthy source
This is not an invitation to whine or complain, it's a great opportunity to hear someone else's perspective on the matters that are fueling your stress levels. Sometimes, other people have been through the same circumstances that you are currently going through and as a result, can give you sound advice on how to move forward.3. Ask for help
Pride is often what sets you up for failure. Often times, people are afraid that the need to ask for help puts them under a weak and unfavorable light, and so they refrain from asking for help. In other cases, hearing "no" as an answer can cripple someone from seeking the help they need. When you find yourself in this circumstance, it make sense to just "bite the bullet" and take a chance alone than to not try at all.
The people in your life who love and care about you are most always ready to step up and help if you need it, but if you're denied someone's help after asking for it, life truly continues to go on.4. Read the bible
Delve into the word of God. Every trial you are facing can be found in the Bible, as well as the solutions. Reading the comforting and edifying word of God will most definitely uplift your spirits.5. Work out
Swimming provides the body with holistic health benefits. It's also therapeutic and will help ease the mind as it emits a happiness hormone called serotonin. Serotonin regulates the mood, prevents depression and makes you feel happy. Serotonin can be released by getting exposed to sunlight, by eating foods rich in carbohydrates and by exercising.6. Formulate a Plan B
Keep in mind that some situations are beyond your control. However, some can be fixed by making fail-safe plan when things go awry. Going back to school and attaining the education needed to excel or starting your own business are great alternatives. Volunteering for a few months is also a good way to create opportunities for yourself.7. Be Still
If you've tried all of the above and your troubles still remain, be still and continue to have faith. Do not self-destruct while you wait. Find your passion and pursue it. Be strong and of good courage. Your passion can be found in your hobbies and in your desire for change. Take your life by the reigns and go forward with your head held high until your time comes.
Take a moment and share it!
