The embattled leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has
appeared in a new video dismissing claims that the insurgency has been
crushed and chased out of its stronghold in Sambisa forest.
If true, it would definitely be a blow on the reputation of the Nigerian government and the Army who have been commended both locally and internationally for their reported success.
The Nigerian Army had previously claimed to have recovered Shekau’s Qur’an and flag in Camp Zero, the Boko Haram’s Headquarters in Sambisa forest.
Shekau remains elusive as reports of his death have surfaced on several occasions only to by dismissed by him in audio and video messages.

And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree.”#BREAKING Boko Haram leader Shekau in new video says group safe, not crushed— AFP news agency (@AFP) December 29, 2016
